Media Player tab and streaming not working?

Post by suzy »

Playing local files works well!

But when entering a URI for a stream, I can't get it to work. For example I got this URL from the radio station website but it won't play, and the "Connecting to the server" message on the tab just keeps spinning.

https://ice4.somafm.com/poptron-128-mp3

I also tried some URLs from https://streamurl.link/ without success.

Hi,

Follow these steps :
  • Open this page and download the LAVFilters-0.78-Installer.exe : https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/tag/0.78
  • Install the LAVFilters to improve compatibility with more audio formats.
  • Open a media player tab.
  • Click on the globe button.
  • Paste this URL https://somafm.com/m3u/poptron.m3u.
  • Select Playlist in the Type box.
  • Click on the OK button.
I got that URL from the "Listen" page at https://somafm.com/listen/

Notice that the URL is a playlist link that ends with m3u. BriskBard also supports pls playlists.

In the case of https://streamurl.link/ I searched for "somafm" and I clicked on the green button to copy this URL : http://api.somafm.com/defcon.pls
Then I followed the previous steps and selected Playlist in the Type box. It also worked. :)

If you visit more web pages with radio station links make sure to copy the playlist links that end with m3u or pls.

It looks like the problem was a combination of me not knowing what I am doing, and it not being clear what BriskBard can and can't do.

But I followed your steps and now can listen to the music from the internet. Very helpful!

Thank you so much for the prompt reply.
